I know what you’re thinking, and the answer is yes, YouTube does count as social media.

Many of us already know that YouTube is all about sharing videos, but did you know that almost half of U.S. adults (113 million) log on to YouTube daily (Pew Research Center)?

So how do you reach this massive user base and put this platform to work for your nonprofit? Create videos that will entertain your community. Easier said than done, but here are a few ideas:

  • Videos that go behind the scenes of your organization’s operations

  • Useful how-to videos

  • Testimonials

Any videos you create should tie back into your mission, but don’t bog your fans down with dry information about your organization’s programs and services. Remember, users want to be entertained. Take this chance to be creative and show the world what a positive impact you are having on your community.
