Leveraging Linkedin
LinkedIn is a social platform that focuses on business. Think of it as more of a professional networking site than a place for you to share pictures of today’s brunch.
The best way to leverage LinkedIn to benefit your nonprofit is through a personal profile, not a business profile (though you should absolutely have a page for your organization).
Many LinkedIn users have more followers than their company page. Once you start nurturing these professional relationships, you can build support for your nonprofit.
But how do you start making these connections? Post consistently and engage your connections regularly. Aim to be helpful, even if it does not directly relate to your nonprofit. Leave comments, share job opportunities, check in with an old work friend you may have lost contact with.
By building a strong network of connections on LinkedIn, you can funnel those connections to your nonprofit page when you mention your organization in your posts. The connections who are invested in your mission’s success will become followers of your nonprofit, and will make a strong community that can be called upon for contributions, invitations to fundraisers and much more.
